Great news! More mosquito nets are coming to families in rural communities to protect them from mosquitoes.
#AmbBitter presented more than 174000 mosquito nets on July 9 to Mr. Khamphone Phoutthavong, Deputy Minister of Health, during a handover ceremony in Vientiane. These mosquito nets will be distributed to families in rural areas of Champasak province, where the number of mosquito-transmitted malaria cases remains high. USAID via the President’s Malaria Initiative has contributed more than $1.9 million in technical assistance and supplies to provide and distribute more than 600,000 mosquito nets to support the Lao government in its fight against malaria and other mosquito-transmitted diseases. This contribution will help the Lao government meet its goal of eliminating malaria by 2030.
