Five warning signs to seek a better job

“Love what you do.” This is a very common phrase often said to people, especially those who often complain about being bored and wanting to leave their job. It is true that you cannot always choose what you like. However, there are many cases where people try to put up with what they do not like and end up in a bad situation afterward. So, how do you know when it is the right time to change your job? Let us see if you have any of the five signs below:

  1. You do not like your job: if you just do not like the job, but don’t actually hate it, then you can still manage to continue. However, if your negative feelings about the job intensify so that you become unwilling to continue or if you feel that your workplace is the worst place on earth, then that will be a clear sign for you to leave your job.
  2. Cannot relate to the company culture: sometimes you might not have any problem with your job, but with your colleagues, or boss or you just cannot relate to the company culture as in the saying “happiness is where the heart is.” If your workplace does not fit with your personality or just keeps making you feel uncomfortable and unwilling to continue, then you do not have to put up with it. There are several other organizations where you might eventually be able to find your ideal.
  3. No advancement opportunities: you have worked for several years, gained extensive experience and produced good outcomes for the company. However, you are still in the same position, not promoted like others. Sometimes, newcomers advance faster and overtake you. You decide to consult with your boss and nothing changes. There are only promises that you know will never come true. Then you might consider moving on and working in a new organization.
  4. No opportunity for you to demonstrate your qualities or learn more: you possess a wide range of skills, but are not given an opportunity to apply them. You start to feel bored and feel that you only get to work on unimportant tasks. If you are having this kind of feeling, it is recommended that you speak with your boss first. This is to find out what the company is planning to do with your position. If your firm does not care about developing you by making use of your abilities or does not place you in an appropriate position, then it is a good excuse to seek another job.
  5. Your job affects your personal relationships: this is another sign worth considering. Family members are crucial because they will be the ones taking care of you for the rest of your life. If your job has become more important than your family or your significant others by taking away the time which could be spent with them, or is driving you so crazy that you later take it out on your family members, you should then consider which one is more vital to you. Success might not be that worthwhile if you have to be alone with it.
