why Chinese people tend to be rich?
(cont. from previous issue)
Greeting dear readers, I would like continue my article on Chinese commercial philosophy from the previous issue of March 2019. I hope that you will also continue to read this together.
- Work hard and be patient (cont.)
Mr. Jack Ma, the richest man in China, is considered another person with perseverance working hard to be successful. He once said that “never give up. Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, but the day after tomorrow will be sunshine.” It is too bad that people tend to give up at tomorrow’s night before they reach the sunshine day after tomorrow.
Mr. Jack Ma is another person will excellence level of patience. He has never given in to his fate. Even when he failed and was rejected by society, he still kept his cool and standed back up to achieve his goal. He always keep in mind that “there is always a reward to overcome any difficulty. When you lose something, you will often receive a better thing in return only if you are patient enough.” However, most people tend to give up early and that is the reason they never succeed. Mr. Jack Ma has never given up to his fate. For example, when he was young, he wanted to be an English teacher. He applied for different universities and failed the entrance examination 3 times. He still went on for his 4th attempt and got accepted eventually into Hangzhou Normal University where he graduated in 1988.
After his graduation, he applied for a job with over 30 organizations. Not even one was willing to hire him due to his appearance. He once asked a police offer to accompany him to apply for a job. Still, they rejected him saying that “he is a bad guy, so we cannot hire him.” The most painful moment in his life refers to when he was rejected by KFC, the globally famous fast-food chain. There were 24 candidates awaited to be employed. In the end, 23 were hired and he was the only person in the group who was rejected.
- Economy and saving
Chinese people are well-known for their economical and saving habit, and they sometimes are mistakenly regarded as being thifty. In fact, they are not thifty, they believe that “saving is the source of wealth.” For Chinese people, they are willing to spend their time picking up even a seed of rice on the ground because it is valuable to them.
Therefore, saving up starting from 1 or 2 kip can lead to a big sum of money which will allow us to start our business. This is the first step for Chinese people in building up their richness just like Mr. Li Ka Shing. When he saved enough from his salary, he decided to start his own business by establishing a plastic factory in 1956 when he was only 17 years old. What will happen to Chinese people who migrate to our country with nothing, work just enough to feed their stomach and never save any money? The answer is that they will never be rich just like the saying “saving is a way to build wealth.”
- Peer-to-peer business
No matter where Chinese people migrate to, they will always build up their own community so called China Town to be a point for trading, communicating and helping each other. Chinese regard their fellow countrymen as one of their family members.
Chinese people like to deal with each other the most because it is more convenient. With more and more interaction with one another, they later form their special bond which helps widen their trading activities just like the saying “birds without wings just like people without friends will never fly high.” In the business world, nobody can do business alone, espcially the newly established business that the first group of customers will more likely be their friends who will support each other before it grows bigger just like the Chinese saying “men without friends is like trees without leaves. Does not matter how big the trees are, birds and rats will never settle there” (to be continued).
