ໃນປີ 2005, ໂອ່ງ-ມັ່ງ ໃນລາວ ຍັງເຫຼືອພຽງແຕ່ 6 ຫາ 20 ໂຕ? ຕັ້ງແຕ່ນັ້ນມາ, ຄວາມພະຍາຍາມໃນການປົກປ້ອງສັດດັ່ງກ່າວ ຈາກການສູນພັນກໍໄດ້ມີຂຶ້ນໃນລະດັບຊຸມຊົນໃນໄລຍະເວລາບໍ່ເຖິງ 15 ປີ ອົງການສະຫະປະຊາຊາດ ເພື່ອການພັດທະນາ (UNDP) ຢາກຮັບປະກັນວ່າ: ແນວທາງນີ້ບໍ່ຄວນຢຸດຕິພຽງເທົ່ານີ້ ແລະ ຢາກໃຫ້ສັດທີ່ສວາຍງາມເຫຼົ່ານີ້ ສືບຕໍ່ເພີ່ມຈຳນວນຂຶ້ນໃນຫຼາຍໆທົດສະວັດໃນຕໍ່ໜ້າ.
ນັ້ນເປັນເຫດຜົນທີ່ວ່າ: ເປັນຫຍັງໂຄງການຄຸ້ມຄອງທີ່ດິນ ແລະ ປ່າໄມ້ແບບຍືນຍົງ ໃນລະບົບນິເວດປ່າໂຄກ ພາກໃຕ້ຂອງ ສປປ ລາວ ເຊິ່ງເປັນໂຄງການປົກປັກຮັກສາທີ່ຢູ່ອາໄສຂອງໂອ່ງ-ມັ່ງ ນັ້ນກໍຄື ປ່າໂຄກ ຂອງ ອົງການຢູເອັນດີພີ ຈິ່ງໄດ້ມອບຮູບປັ້ນໂອ່ງ-ມັ່ງໃຫ້ແກ່ແຂວງສະຫວັນນະເຂດໃນວັນທີ 13 ທັນວາ 2018 ຜ່ານມານີ້.
ຮູບປັ້ນດັ່ງກ່າວໄດ້ຖືກຕັ້ງຢູ່ວົງວຽນ ຈຸດທີ່ເປັນສູນກາງຂອງນະຄອນໄກສອນ ພົມວິຫານ ເຊິ່ງຈະເປັນສິ່ງຢໍ້າເຕືອນໃຫ້ຄົນໃນທ້ອງຖິ່ນ ແລະ ແຂກທີ່ມາຢ້ຽມຢາມ ຮູ້ເຖິງການໃຫ້ຄວາມສໍາຄັນຂອງການອະນຸລັກສັດທີ່ໃກ້ຈະສູນພັນ.

Did you know that in 2005 there were only between 6 to 20 Eld’s Deer ? left in #Laos??? Ever since then, efforts to protect the species from extinction have led to its population tripling in just under 15 years! United Nations Development Programme – UNDPwants to ensure that this promising trajectory does not stop here and the population of this beautiful animal keeps increasing for many more decades to come.
That’s why the SAFE Ecosystems project in Lao PDR’s Dry Dipterocarp Forest landscape, which protects the Eld’s Deer’s habitat, the dry dipterocarp forest of Savannakhet ?, handed over statues of the Eld’s Deer to Savannakhet Province last week. The statues have been placed at a busy roundabout in the city center of Kaysone Phomvihane, where they will stand to remind locals and visitors about the importance of saving endangered species.
